As “AEO” trained orthodontists, Drs. Sletten & Brettin feel very strongly that orthodontics is both a cosmetic AND a health service. Orthdontics can not only impact your teeth but also your jaw joints and muscles. It is very important that proper function of the chewing system is achieved, as well as straight, beautiful teeth. With few exceptions, orthodontic training programs focus solely on cosmetics, so for an orthodontist to properly learn the function of the system and apply it in practice, s/he must take an additional 2-year post graduate course called “Advanced Education in Orthodontics”.
